Mouser perhaps?
I don't know if Mouser is one of the better places to buy these caps from, but they do sell them. The part numbers are as follows: Mouser part number for 9.1K metal oxide resistors : 283-9.1k Mouser part number for 25 watt “choke” resistor: 280-cr25-1K Liverpool cathode resistor: either 280-cr10-50 ...

Re: Hi - newbie making 18W Liverpool
my main question is whether you guys have any favourite values for the cap and resistor between the 2nd and 3rd stage? I'm planning to start with .0022uF and 68K. Thoughts? I would start with these two values and work you way from there. 0.0047uF cap and a 68K resistor. To me the 68K resistor has t...

9.1K metal oxide resistors?
I was wondering if anyone knows who sells 9.1K (normally 3 watt) metal oxide resistors?
I haven't had any problems finding 18K resistors, but the 9.1K resistors are eluding me.
Thanks for your help.

Re: 1st Annual Mid-Atlantic AmpFest
Dear Greg I'm in the wrong country to attend, but I'd love to hear all about it, will you be recording any part of the Ampfest? Should anyone turn up with a Trainwreck, I'd love to hear the A/B comparison between the clones and the real deal. Speakers could be an issue though. Greg, I hope it all go...

Wire colours used in building a Trainwreck.
While I was reading a post about the power supply layout, I realised that I should have posted up more information regarding the Funk built Liverpool amp I have a photo of. I have submitted all the information regarding the circuit, but omitted the wiring colours. Okay this it. The heater are green ...

Trainwrecks and Mallory caps.
I shall come up with a power supply layout that I'm happy with this year. I do know that Matt Taylor has a layout for the power supply that he has been working on. One of the reasons that I haven't come up with a layout yet is that the caps of preference in a Trainwreck are Mallorys. I'm also agains...

Love to see it.
Dear Ampdoc1 I too would love to see your circuit and PCB layout. For the record, I have nothing against using a PCB except for these two factors. Firstly, I have seen a few amps that have used PCB and when the amp had a fault, a lot of damage was caused to the PCB. In the case of a Fender amp suppl...

The unfinished work.
You both are quite correct about the power supply layout. I have looked at the power supply layout of the amp "Ginger" which I didn't like at all. I also have looked at various clone amps, and the thing which is instantly noticeable is that everyone copies the board layout, but no one copies the pow...

SoZo caps in Express and Liverpool amps?
I haven't experimented with these caps in an Express or a Liverpool clone, but according to this post on 18watt.com, perhaps these caps could work quite well in a Trainwreck clone. I should point out that I'm quite happy with the Xiron type caps that I have in the Rocket type clone. With all the tal...

The Rocket thus far.
Dear Chris I had been meaning to shoot off an email to you and Matt, but for some reason whenever I send messages to you they keep bouncing back to me. At this point in time I'm building an 18 watt (mini bluesbreaker) Marshall. I've only heard good things about them and there is so much around in th...

Chris
Did you ever go to that studio in NYC and A/B your amps against the real thing?
It's the acid test. I hope to do it one day.

Re: Anyone interested in an Amp gathering in the NY/NJ area
I hope someone with a real Express or Liverpool amp attends Chris.
I think your amps will give the real thing a run for there money, or be better!

What I've heard.
I heard that the output transformer was originally 6.6K primary with M19 steel. I have heard that the 5.2K primary also sounds very good. I'm not too sure what Doug Holt ended up with. The last time I sent him an email he told me the transformer that he liked was a transformer with a 5K primary and ...
