Re: Toshiba 6GB8 hi-fi tubes
Well the Japanese data sheet shows the pin out to be identical to a EL34, (my Japanese is not good ), with the exception of the suppressor grid (g3), being tied to the Cathode internally.
Due to the lack of response in this thread..., maybe I should move it to the TW thread?

Toshiba 6GB8 hi-fi tubes
Hi guys. Can’t find any info in English. I have been given a pair of these tubes. They look VERY similar internally to my Fx2’s but with black plates. Google seems to suggest these are EL34 type equivalents, just “higher” grade. Before I try them in my beloved TW Express, I want to make sure. Any su...

Re: Brad Paisley Trainwreck
Not sure which cabinets are used, but it looks like the Rocket has a guitar lead going down to towards the pedals and that amp is definitely on. Could be wrong.

I couldn’t agree more. Maybe that’s why HAD took so long to deliver to his clients... he wanted them partially broken in.

Re: Advice on 2nd Gen conversion to skyliner tone stack
Here´s what I would do ( and have done on my 2nd gen amp): Lose the .02 cap on the bass pot (wiper to 10k resistor) , if it is in your amp . This way, the tone stack will be fairly close to the Skyliner, tonally. Also, the mid pot will be much more effective. I also used the Skyliner stack in my am...

Re: Advice on 2nd Gen conversion to skyliner tone stack
Doable for sure, and as I understand it, several 2nd gen amps were "updated" in that way. You are looking at changing a couple of pots and resistors, and converting Deep to Mid Boost. Advisable is up to you. Skyliner has less mid scoop, shifted up in frequency. Thank you Martin. After my 102 with s...

Advice on 2nd Gen conversion to skyliner tone stack
O wise ones of the garage. Is such a conversion advisable/doable?

FWIW.. Played a gig with my Express using a Dumble style open back 1x12 loaded with a Celestion GOLD. Sounded great and received plenty compliments on tone from musicians who attended.

Re: 1969 JMP refurbish
Calling it done. Amp sounds great. Plates are 495v. Biased at 35ma. Added 1.5k grid stoppers and 1k screen resistors. Amp is very quiet . Pilot light is faulty, so will try source one. Otherwise chuffed.

Progress. Still to slowly fire her up and reform DALY caps. While taking pictures.... I realized I haven’t yet connected the pilot lamp . Will also change out the bias caps to 2x 10uf axial to replace the radial ones. Will looks better!

Re: 1969 JMP refurbish
The Schematic you are using is very similar to mine. 2 things to watch out for : you might know this already. 1. the bias circuit turns on with the Standby switch. Not good. This means the output tubes are not biased off when you switch so output tubes red plate for a moment and cause the heater fu...

Re: 1969 JMP refurbish
Whats the S# on this amp? I want to compare to my marshall. Mine is an early 50 watt m#1987. 1970 VINTAGE I think. It had the 5V leads for a GZ34 on the PWR but SS Rect. I wired it up to a Tube rect years ago because the chassi was punched for the tube socket, and it had a nice sound. I've since wi...
