Re: Help with circuit
Hi The pictures on your other thread with the amp as you bought it give a lot of context. If I understand correctly, you’re replacing the original board with this new one you are making and then want to modify it a bit. Not a bad way to learn at all, and you’ll find people here are generous in their...

There’s a few pointers on this thread which might help.

Re: Two rock crs v3 clone and v1 vs v3 differences
What do you mean by the ltspice files? The ones containing the designs, but also files with the tube models, parts, transformer models. Looks like I should just make a post here on this forum with all files I use, for others to use too and hopefully improve. I for one would love this, having just g...

Re: OTS #102 to #060 (without reverb)?
I’m not an expert but it looks likely to be a carbon film resistor to me. The TT xicon resistors are good quality. For the 1uF I’d opt for the standard TT electrolytic. Alpha’s are decent pots. If you look at the AN gutshot, you can see where he is putting the RN65s (e.g. plates) and where he’s usin...

Good. I couldn’t see the power wires on the pic I was looking at, but noticed it flipped from the PCB silkscreen.

Re: 2nd Gen Build Started (that didn’t take long…)
I think you may have your diode the wrong way round on your relay board.

Re: 2nd Gen Build Started (that didn’t take long…)
If I understand your current state, the relay should have coil power, and be connected to the footswitch and manual switch. You should be able to test if it’s switching as you’d expect using a continuity test on a multimeter. Might be worth troubleshooting it while it’s not in the signal path - just...

Re: AN Wonderland/JM 100w layout
I agree with Guy. It is a beautiful, clean amp.
If on the other hand, you know from the offset that you want overdrive, perhaps look to something like the CRS thread for inspiration, which is on my wish list to build.
If you really want to see all holes used, maybe just parallel a triode?

Re: SSS heater lead dress
If it helps, I have pics of my SSS wiring on pg2 of this thread and it has no hum. There is some discussion about it on there, but I opted for option A partly because (almost) all the other connections come down vertically. You can see on Erwin’s build he did the option you are considering on his th...

Re: What do you believe about the sound of passive components?
I don’t have the experience to have much opinion, but I do find these discussions thought provoking. The engineer in me wonders if the soldering conditions (e.g. amount of heat applied) might affect results.

Re: ODS Preamp In A Box
If it helps… I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one mentioned here. If you search for SMPS you’ll find a couple of really impressive builds of SSS style preamps though, like this: https://ampgarage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35187 Perhaps they could help give inspiration for the power and general layout for...

Re: Colgan’s SSS without reverb
Correct - the reverb path gets tapped off early, and then mixed back in at those two 220k resistors. When the reverb return pot is down (i.e. no reverb) there is no signal to mix back in. By omitting the reverb section you’ll be doing the same - like electron confirms in his build above (only one 22...

Re: Colgan’s SSS without reverb
Hi Eges, and welcome There is always going to be some tone difference if you modify a circuit, but I would expect it could be designed in a way to be negligible in an SSS given its a clean amp. Before trying to answer the questions I think it might help to learn what specifically it is about the SSS...
