Yep, router is all I’ve used so far.

Re: Proof of Concept - Plexi Plates on my CNC

Nah, this machine is pretty puny. I'm not even supposed to be able to engrave aluminum, let alone cut it. I do keep getting incrementally better. My biggest thing that causes so much frustration is dull bits. I'm still using the cheap ones that came with it, and (again, you can see my screw up in on...

Re: Proof of Concept - Plexi Plates on my CNC

Thanks for the look! The exact one I got is out of stock, but the 3018 CNC is pretty generic: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DHJ2RMB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 That model comes with both the laser and router for like $200. I've only used the router so far, and router-only ...

Proof of Concept - Plexi Plates on my CNC

Kind of excited. I have a little CNC machine and experimented making a Plexi-style faceplate with a scrap piece. Laid out the design in DIYLC, then exported to pdf. I imported it to Inkscape and reversed the print, then exported to gcode. I sprayed the back side of my plexiglass after a light sandin...

Thanks. I have flake shellac that I dissolved in 99% isopropyl alcohol.
You sure about that??
Isopropyl is rubbing alcohol. Shellac is dissolved in methanol.
Both are fine. Some prefer rubbing alcohol because of the toxicity of methanol.

I don’t know this particular trem, but some require a strong tube to oscillate properly. Have you done any tube rolling?

Re: 1976 Fender Vibrolux refresh help

I don't know, but it's worth testing it for continuity with the windings. May just be some kind of shield ground, but I'd hesitate to ground it without confirming it's not hot.

Re: OT Primary Question

Well, in testing, I was able to crank the 6K6 at full volume through a 4x12 and not be uncomfortable. The lower wattage could also allow me to use this with a much lower rated speaker. And, unlike the 6V6, 6K6 is a true pentode. Just another different flavor. As an added bonus, 6K6 tubes can be had ...

Re: OT Primary Question

I’m only running those at 350. That’s with a 5Y3 and the lower B+ option. I’m a bit hesitant, but some folks swear they’ve put them in a stock 5E3 with no longevity issues, which is much rougher than I’ll be treating them.

OT Primary Question

I've got an amp that I've recently finished building, and I think my last question is OT primaries. It's cathode biased and has multiple B+ settings. My plate voltage is between 350-400, depending on rectifier, PT secondary settings, and power tubes. The OT is a 3400 primary with 2,4,8,16 secondary ...

Re: Modded Tremolux

Well...as I try to figure out whether to submit another parts order or not, here are some pictures of it as it sits. Please note, I accidentally bent the LED leads to where they're almost touching, but I have bent them back apart. Some of the pics will reflect that. Anyone have a better option for h...

Re: Modded Tremolux

Thank you both for your replies. Since it was one in favor of swapping it out and one in favor of leaving it as-is, I decided to look up the data sheet (which, I admit, I should have done in the first place). According to the manufacturer, these are 450VDC working; 500VDC surge. Steve - your suggest...

Re: Modded Tremolux

My range is now (from memory) 2.6-4 Hz on slow, 3.9-9.6 Hz on fast. That's a very useful frequency range. Thanks! Yeah, I was playing over the weekend, and I don't see a need for any faster speed. I don't know how much lower it could practically go, but it's fine enough for me as-is. Glad I kept ti...

Re: Maybe someone can help me with this color for a guitar.

I would definitely experiment on scrap. It's a bummer that the ReRanch forum is down, but I understand why Bill is unable to think about it at the moment. I think that's probably the first forum I ever really frequented with any regularity. I'm going to mildly disagree with Phil about grain filling....
