Fender reverb driver source?
I ordered a Fender reverb driver (022921, 037099 style) from Amplified Parts in October and it is still on backorder as it is with many other online stores. I see some price gouging going on due to the shortage presumably caused by Classictone going away. Does anybody have a source that sells replac...

Re: Butchered Fender Silverface super reverb
I've replaced the roach in about a dozen Fender amps like this and that is "likely" the problem for the weak trem in that amp.

Re: Looking for a Hilgen Champion schematic !
Thanks for the assist. Got it sorted out and happy. It helped to see some idea of the reverb/mix stuff. Reminded me somewhat of the Fender outboard reverb dry mix from cathode to cathode, but it's quiet and happy. Glad to help! The only gripe I have with mine is it is a little dark sounding. I tend...

Re: Looking for a Hilgen Champion schematic !
Hope this helps. I got this years ago and don't remember where and can't vouch for accuracy but I just scanned in the printed copies I had made. Let me know how it goes. I also had a Pacesetter until last year which was the same circuit in a combo. Great amps (at least the non PCB ones I have had)

Re: Looking for a Hilgen Champion schematic !
I've got a Hilgen Champion, I'll try to dig out the schematic, I think I had one at one point. Mine is older maybe, point to point, no boards. Hopefully I can find my rough drawings that I had that I got somewhere. There is also hilgenamplifiers.net.

Re: Pop/click in tube amp
I had a similar thing when the outer case of my standby switch was not grounded to the chassis. Charge building up for whatever reason at the high voltage switch. It may not be your problem on your amp but check your Power/Standby switches nonetheless. Maybe run it in the pitch dark and see if anyth...

Re: I keep breaking standby switches....
Not necessarily your exact problem but I had an amp that the choke wires were shorted by some low hanging leads from above. It made it seem as if the standby switch was shorted when in fact it was not. It drove me nuts until I figured it out. Just check everything around it just in case!

Re: MESA BOOGIE 50 Caliber+ (2x6L6) - Circuit Board Wanted
I think you haven’t gotten many responses because maybe this type of thing does not exist but is a great idea. I’d be interested if you find anything but I’ve never heard of anything like what you are looking for. Many Boogies die because of the circuit boards traces degrading. I’ve seen quite a few...

Re: New Build - JM/AN Wonderland
Yes powder coating is famous for providing electrical insulation. Wasn't a star washer providing enough contact to the bare metal? The switch did not have a star washer. At the time I first installed, I couldn't find one big enough. I measured it before I fixed and there was no continuity. I had to...

Re: New Build - JM/AN Wonderland
I would remove the wires from the STBY switch and solder them together. Then run the amp like that long enough to verify that the tick is indeed gone. Good idea. I ran it for a long while with just a ground lead alligator clipped on the switch and it did not come back so I went ahead and dremeled o...

Solved the ticking!
So my issue appears to be the standby switch. It is not grounded to the powder coated chassis. If I just touch a grounded test lead to the switch, "pop", then it takes a bit of time to build back up to the ticking. I saw other posts about this being a "common thing" and the solution being to ground ...

Re: New Build - JM/AN Wonderland
So I tried several things, disconnecting local negative feedback, replacing plate resistor for V1-6. Substitute a different filter cap for B5. Even replaced the wire to pin 6. Nothing helped. The sound starts occurring at V1-6 for sure with my probe tests. Still occurs even if I disconnect the downs...

Re: New Build - JM/AN Wonderland
I would suspect noise from cell phone, wifi router, computer, etc. V1 is the most sensitive to stray RF. I think I ruled that out by unplugging anything around it and moving my phone far away. If I ground the input at V1-pin 2, the sound still happens. It is in my garage so not much in there. I fee...

New Build - JM/AN Wonderland
Aloha, Just finished my new JM style amp (in the wonderful AN Wonderland chassis)! It is sounding pretty great and I am entirely pleased with the results so far with my '74 Bassman 100 iron. I will be fine tuning this over the next few days. I am chasing down a small bug that is driving me nuts. It ...

Re: JM/SSS tweaks
Thank you Marcus for your tweaking info! I just got started on my next build over a year after getting the A/N chassis and have been reading through all the old threads. My donor Bassman 100 iron is definitely a heavy anchor for this sucker but fits okay and I hope sounds good! I will probably incor...
