The one photo looking at the HRM board from the front of the amp, the right side stand-off looks like it is very close to the trimmer lead eyelet. Could there be some arcing happening? if it is, would the loop of the "good" amp being parallel have anything to do with the odd behaviour?(not the ticking/farting) That's the only question that comes to mind very quickly.

I guess more likely the "problem amp's" loop being wired wrong makes more sense.
